New Jefferson County Public Schools Report October 21, 2008: State of the District: How Whites and Blacks Perform in Jefferson County Public Schools.

Education analyst Richard Innes released a new report about the racial achievement gap in JCPS schools. You can read more here. The release of the report at a press conference in Louisville garnered much media attention.

Libertarians sue Kentucky
October 15, 2008: The Libertarian party has filed suit against Kentucky after a candidate was not allowed on the ballot.

Ed Martin from the 3rd Congressional district was removed from the ballot as the law prohibits candidates from qualified parties from running as independents.

Governor Beshear seizes websites
October 6, 2008: Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear seized the domain names to 141 gambling websites.

Gov. Beshear claims that these websites are illegal and unregulated. Opponents are concerned on the grounds that the sites are not illegal, are regulated in the municipality they are based in, and the idea of a slippery slope being created where the state could seize intellectual private property without proper legal action.
